Life Is Too Short

Life is just too short not to have fun with it.

One of the hardest actions that we can perform is to laugh or smile at our self. Allow yourself to smile at yourself. Before you open your mouth and say a four letter word or make a stupid remark which will only make yourself all stressed out, smile at yourself, shake your head and relax.

The following quotes are from Jonathon Lockwood Huie at Dance Lightly

"Play with life, laugh with life, dance lightly with life, and smile at the riddles of life, knowing that life’s only true lessons are writ small in the margin."

"Say NO to the demands of the world. Say YES to the longings of your own heart."

"There is a secret wisdom-of-the-ages that holds the key to breaking our cycle of self-imposed suffering. The secret wisdom is, "Life is not supposed to be fair."

"You don’t have the power to make life “fair,” but you do have the power to make life joyful."

"Life is NOT "Supposed to be Fair." Know that there is no single way that life is "supposed" to be. Demanding that life meet our expectations is a sure fire recipe for a miserable existence. Life is a game with no rules. Life just happens to us regardless of our best intentions. Our only path to happiness lies in being open to receiving whatever life throws at us - with Gratitude. Have NO Expectations of life."

I Will Never Regret

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly.
As I've aged, I've become  kinder to myself, and less critical of  myself. I've become my own friend.
I don't chide myself for eating  that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly
cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat,
to be messy, to be extravagant.

I  have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great
freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon?
I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60  &70's, and if I, at the same time,
wish to weep over a lost love  ..... I will.

I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and  will dive into
the waves with  abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.
They, too, will get  old.

I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten.
And I eventually remember the important  things.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when
you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets
hit by a car?  But broken  hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion.
A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I  am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my
youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face.

So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.

As  you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think.
I don't question myself anymore.  I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I  like the person I have
become.  I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time
lamenting what could  have been,  or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert
every single day (if I feel like it).

(I received this in an email and liked it so well that I decided to post it here for all to read. It speaks to my exact thinking.)

Time To Think!

Imagine that you had won the following prize in a contest:

Each morning your bank would deposit $86,400.00 in your private account for your use. However, this prize had rules, just as any game has certain rules.

The first set of rules would be:

1. Everything that you didn't spend during each day would be taken away from you.
2. You may not simply transfer money into some other account.
3. You may only spend it.
4. Each morning upon awakening, the bank opens your account with another $86,400.00 for that day.

The second set of rules:

1. The bank can end the game without warning; at any time it can say, It's over, the game is over!
2. It can close the account and you will not receive a new one.

What would you personally do?
You would buy anything and everything you wanted, right?
Not only for yourself, but for all the people you love, right?
Even for people you don't know, because you couldn't possibly spend it all on yourself, right?
You would try to spend every cent, and use it all, right?

ACTUALLY, this GAME is REALITY!

Each of us is in possession of such a magical bank. We just can't seem to see it.

The MAGICAL BANK is TIME!
Each morning we awaken to receive 86,400 seconds as a gift of life, and when we go to sleep at night, any remaining time is NOT credited to us.
What we haven't lived up to that day is forever lost.
Yesterday is forever gone.
Each morning the account is refilled, but the bank can dissolve your account at
any time....WITHOUT WARNING.

SO, what will YOU do with your 86,400 seconds?

Aren't they worth so much more than the same amount in dollars?

Think about that, and always think of this:
Enjoy every second of your life, because time races by so much quicker than you think.
So take care of yourself, and enjoy life!

Here's wishing you a wonderfully beautiful day!!!

Celebration Of Freedom

July 4, 2010

A day of celebration by enjoying fireworks, picnics, getting together with family and friends and eating out.
"In the United States, Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain." ~~ Wikipedia

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
And to the Republic for which it stands
One nation under God
Indivisible with liberty
And Justice for all.

"We must never forget who
Gets the credit for the freedoms we have, of which we should be
Eternally grateful...

How many pilots' planes Shot down?
How many died at sea
How many foxholes were soldiers' Graves ?
No, freedom isn't free

I heard the sound of Taps One night,
When everything was still,
I listened to the bugler Play
And felt a sudden chill.

I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant 'Amen,'
When a flag had draped a Coffin.
Of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the Children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and Husbands
With interrupted lives.

I Thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington .
No, freedom isn't free."
